Project/Payroll Accountant
A-C Electric Company is growing rapidly and has an immediate need for a full-time Project/Payroll Accountant at our corporate headquarters in Bakersfield, Calif.

More about the Project/Payroll Accountant’s Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, this position assists in all aspects of the accounting process with particular focus on cost accounting of projects and payroll.
- Entry of manual job cost adjustments as directed by Project Managers and/or Accounting Supervisor.
- Assistance with subcontracts, purchase orders, and other procurement requests including administration within accounting ERP software.
- Change order requirements and processing including administration within accounting ERP software.
- Support to project management in job analyses as requested (job cost, estimates, billings, work-in-process, etc.)
- Setup draw requests in accounting ERP software.
- Understanding lien requirements by project, enter information as required and maintain database. Notify Project Manager or Project Assistant when deadlines are approaching. File notices as required per Project requirements.
- Preparation of property tax returns under direction of Accounting Supervisor.
- As needed, monitor accounts receivable collections and provide information to relevant parties; enter credit memos and bad debts as required under direction of Accounting Supervisor.
- Ensure that certified payroll required wage information is prepared prior to project start.
- Protect and maintain confidential information.
- Reconcile payrolls to accounting system prior to final transmission and posting for Accounting Supervisor review.
- Print payroll checks for employees, including confidential payroll.
- Time document entry, review, and confirming accuracy.
- Maintain payroll reports and files ensuring accuracy for record keeping and audits.
- Assist Accounting Supervisor with preparation and filing of payroll tax returns, prepare payroll tax filing reconciliations, and payroll tax deposits.
- Responsible for the setup, maintenance, and reconciliation of all employee payroll garnishments, tax forms, direct deposits, and other employee benefits, including coordination and communication with the employee as needed.
- Under direction of Accounting Supervisor, preparing certified payroll for public works projects with understanding of prevailing wage and union rules in a construction environment.
- Under direction of Accounting Supervisor, preparing monthly apprentice reports, fringe benefit statements, DAS 140, and related employee compliance requirements.
- Reconcile and track special handling Accounts Payable items
- Assist the Accounting Manager with the preparation of schedules for corporate tax returns and annual audit.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned.
- Computer Skills: Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, basic word processing with company designated software, experience in ERP systems (Spectrum construction accounting software preferred)
