High school district to save millions in energy costs

The Kingsburg Joint Union High School District is projected to save a substantial amount of money over the next 20 years and also conserve energy in the process. The district will save $2.1 million by installing numerous solar panels throughout the high school campus. The estimated savings in the first year will be $36,500. “The money savings can be invested in students and programs,” said Superintendent Randy Morris.

The board approved the project in April 2012 and construction started in September 2012. There are three locations of clusters of solar panels around the campus. The locations consist of …
