Regional Superintendent

Mission 

The mission of the Regional Superintendent provides direction, support, and oversight for field operations, positively impacting the project team through coaching, communication, scheduling and use of technology, as well as protecting the company from risk, ensuring company guidelines and procedures are followed in all aspects of project execution from project start-up through completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper staffing is assigned to the project, balancing production with the development of future field leaders. This includes choosing the right Field Leadership for the project, with the right background and committed to Safety.
  • Field Leadership coaching & training
    • Visit every jobsite every week
    • Review standards for work performance: timesheets, JHA’s, Daily Huddles, SIP’s, Earned Hours, TRACK, progress drawings, interactions with general contractor
    • Identify future field talent
    • Lead foremen training program, working with the Talent & Organizational Development team and including subjects related not only to expertise in the build of the job, but in employee career development, conflict resolution, technology use, and communication skills
  • Drives productivity through setting production goals, production troubleshooting and effective jobsite logistics, use of equipment and subcontractor oversight for production-related work such as excavation, boring and concrete.
  • Oversee field operations for multiple projects ensuring that the project plan is executed in accordance with the contract documents, with no additional work performed without authorization. This includes ensuring that work is installed per plans/spec with quality and integrity always looking out for A-C and the client’s best interest.
  • Communicate openly and honestly with all project team members to identify project issues and risks to project profitability during and after each project visit. Continually check in with PM and APM to review critical lead time/procurement items, labor expenditures, equipment needs, subcontractor production, and progress drawings/as-built status.
  • Inform project teams of major decisions to be made. Work collaboratively to come to the decision, ensuring the entire team trusts you and that you are there to help.

Additional Job Duties

In addition to the key responsibilities listed, the Regional Superintendent will execute the following job duties:

  • Coach and train Field Leadership to plan ahead for material orders, to ensure materials meet plans and specifications, and to work through Purchasing and MECs as well as prefabrication for kitting wherever possible.
  • Coach and train Field Leadership on job planning; prepared orders, lined out manpower, see obstacles, schedule vetting for sequence and constructability, anticipate challenges and constructability issues, equipment needs and on use of tools such as SIPs to effectively manage the job.
  • DPR’s –reviews for accuracy and reporting consistency; escalate issues to Project Manager and/or Project Team.
  • Resolve escalated constructability issues as they arise, using them as an opportunity to coach and train field and office leaders.
  • Ensure A-C “builds the job we bid and budget.” No change work without FCD’s; understanding and enforcing scope understanding & adherence.
  • Involved in monthly pre-projection meetings as an active participant and contributor.
  • Ensures effective punch list process is implemented per A-C’s construction progress map and procedures.
  • Take advantage of opportunities for field staff to do different types of work, especially important when considering apprenticeship requirements.
  • Develop strong relationships with project team and owner/client through maintaining good communication, open dialogue about changes, job conditions, issues, and following up in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively and build relationships with outside parties to accomplish client goals. Promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors instilling this philosophy in project team.
  • Adherence to safety regulations, AHJ requirements, inspections, etc.
  • Participate in performance and development discussions with Field Leadership, giving time and honest feedback emphasizing both positive achievements and areas which need improvement. Provide regular, timely and meaningful feedback to assigned Project Superintendents, General Foremen and Foremen about their performance on the job.
  • Involved in project close-out, did well-do better reviews.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in the electrical construction industry, union experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, training and developing people, such as prior Foreman experience
  • Proficiency in Procore preferably
  • Experience managing multiple project teams across a wide variety of fast-track projects
  • Experience with complex, fast paced, and high visibility projects
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Interacts effectively and professionally with internal and external clients

Pay Range: $70.00 - $76.25 per hour. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
