Mission
The Safety Coordinator supports safe work execution by providing field-level oversight, strengthening safety leadership behaviors, and proactively identifying and mitigating risk, contributing to A-C Electric Company’s commitment to protecting people and reducing operational risk.
Key Responsibilities
Safe Work Execution Oversight
- Maintain consistent field presence to observe work and verify safe practices are integrated into daily operations
- Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and address them through coaching and, when necessary, escalation
- Reinforce alignment between company safety expectations and actual field execution
Proactive Risk Identification & Mitigation
- Identify hazards early and support implementation of appropriate control measures
- Monitor corrective actions to ensure completion and effectiveness
- Escalate unresolved or systemic risks that could impact people or operations
High-Risk Work Planning Support
- Partner with foremen and project teams to support planning for high-risk activities
- Contribute to development and review of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and work plans
- Help teams anticipate potential failure points before work begins
Incident Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support incident investigations, including documentation and basic root cause identification
- Assist in development and follow-up of corrective actions
- Reinforce field-level improvements to prevent recurrence
Safety Leadership Development, Training & Coaching
- Deliver safety training, orientations, and jobsite instruction
- Participate in job briefings, tailgates, and field discussions
- Coach field leadership on safe work practices and reinforce positive behaviors
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with field personnel, demonstrating respect for the work and partnering with crews, foremen, and project teams to support safe and successful execution
Additional Responsibilities
- Support development and continuous improvement of safety programs and field implementation practices
- Participate in regulatory compliance activities, audits, and inspections
- Assist with onboarding and orientation of new employees
- Collaborate with general contractors and subcontractors on job-specific safety coordination efforts
- Provide feedback to safety and operations leadership on recurring risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement
- Support implementation of new safety initiatives, tools, and processes
- Assist in documentation, reporting, and tracking of safety-related activities as needed
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience, education, or direct involvement in safety processes or construction safety preferred
- Experience, exposure, or training related to safety oversight, incident investigations, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) or pre-task planning.
- OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP certifications preferred
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with data tracking systems, dashboards, or reporting tools preferred
- Ability to learn and effectively navigate multiple software platforms and systems
- Ability to recognize construction hazards, evaluate risk, and support implementation of appropriate control measures
- Working knowledge of OSHA / Cal-OSHA regulations and safe work practices
- Ability to accurately document field observations, incidents, and corrective actions

- Ability to work independently in dynamic field environments and make sound decisions with minimal supervision
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with field personnel, leadership, and external partners
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, jobsite responsibilities, and follow-ups
- Ability to adapt to changing work conditions, priorities, and jobsite environments
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Pay Range: $36.00 - $48.00 per hr. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
