The timeline below chronicles our journey—from humble beginnings to becoming a trusted name in electrical contracting. Each milestone represents our dedication to quality craftsmanship, safety excellence, and the relationships we've built along the way.

1900s

A-C Electric Company traces its history back to the early 1900s, when Joe Alexander’s father, Joseph Henry Alexander, worked as an electrician on large projects in the San Francisco Bay area, including the Saint Francis Hotel.
1920s and 30s

Founder Joe Alexander worked with his father doing “electric work of all kinds” around McFarland, Calif.

1945

A-C Electric Company is founded by Joseph R. Alexander and Thomas M. Corr in Delano, Calif. That same year, the company moved its operations to Bakersfield, Calif.

1950

Ridgecrest, Calif. branch opens, serving the Naval Ordinance Test Station as well as the surrounding community.

1953

Visalia, Calif. branch opens serving educational, industrial and residential markets. 

1955

Lancaster, Calif. branch opens serving the Antelope Valley and the Air Force installation at Palmdale.

1955

Performed all electrical at the new Bakersfield College Campus on Panorama Drive in Bakersfield, Calif.

1956

Traveled to Lajes, Teceira Island in the Azoers to complete an electrical system for a U.S. Air Force hospital base.

1957

Performed all electrical work for the primary terminal at Kern County Airport, known as Meadows Field.

1959

Released their first ever Newsletter.

The First annual A-C Picnic.

Performed an electrical project for the KLYD Television studio, now known as KGET in Bakersfield, Calif.

1960

Performed electrical work on the Douglas Aircraft antenna at the Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County, Calif.

1961

Performed major electrical power, and controls upgrades at Knudsen Creamery in Visalia, Calif.

1965

Corr Family sold its shares of the company and retired.

1968

Hired as electrical contractor for Buena Vista and Wheeler Ridge Pump Plants for the Department of Water Resources.

1968

Performed electrical for an addition to Tehachapi Prison.

1996

Performed electrical for Fresno City College Library addition & alterations.

1999

Launched Mr. Electric service company, a quick response residential and small commercial service company.

2004

Celebrated its 52nd company picnic.

2008

Performed electrical for Independence High School Campus in Bakersfield, Calif.

2013

Rated 9th commercial solar contractor in the nation.

A-C Electric received the Golden Shovel Award from PG&E.

Performed stadium and light pole replacement for Fresno State College.

70th anniversary of the company, is celebrated with a weekend in Cambria Calif. for A-C employees and an accompanied guest.

2018

Opening of the Ontario, Calif. office.
